Brentwood, CA (May 31, 2024) A morning commute took a stressful turn on Thursday, May 30th, for two drivers. Two vehicles, one a semi-truck and the other a passenger vehicle, collided on Highway 4 in Brentwood, according to reports. The accident took place just after 8:30 a.m. and left one person with serious injuries.
Every morning, motorists drive along Highway 4 to get to work, but on this particular morning, things didn’t go as smoothly for commuters. At approximately 8:37 a.m., a semi-truck and a silver Honda Civic collided on the highway between Walnut Boulevard and Vasco Road. The cause of the collision is still unknown, but the force from the crash caused the semi-truck to overturn, according to reports. It came to a stop on its side with so much damage that witnesses described it as being “folded.”
Officers arrived at the scene and found the semi-truck on its side with the driver dangling from the vehicle’s window. Paramedics carefully pulled the driver free and placed them on a stretcher with serious injuries before loaded the victim into the ambulance. They were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment. There is no word as to whether or not anyone in the Honda was injured in this collision.
A SigAlert was issued from Vasco Road to Walnut Boulevard because the wrecked vehicles were blocking the highway, officers said. Officers spoke with witnesses and took their statements at the scene. They also gathered evidence and are determined to figure out what exactly happened on Highway 4 that morning. The damaged semi-truck had to be hauled from the scene and crews cleaned the debris from the roadway as quickly as they could.
