Santa Rosa, CA (August 21, 2023) A Pedestrian, age 19, was hit by a vehicle on Saturday night, receiving fatal injuries. California Highway Patrol Officer David DeRutte said it happened around 11:23 p.m. just south of Santa Rosa.
The pedestrian was walking from a gas station parking lot just north of Todd Road. He walked across the highway, westward, as an approaching Chevrolet Camaro, traveling northbound, hit him. The pedestrian, a resident of Vallejo, was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Camaro driver pulled over and cooperated with police officers. The driver said they saw the pedestrian and tried to avoid him as he crossed, but still ended up hitting him. DeRutte said that the driver had the right-of-way.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating this accident, including why the pedestrian attempted to cross the highway at that time.
