Spring Valley, CA (April 17, 2024) A hit-and-run accident on State Route 94 in Spring Valley claimed a 63-year-old Darryle Lawler’s life. The fatal accident occurred on Monday, April 15th, just before 11:00 p.m., near Old Camp Road. Sadly, the driver fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian, according to officers.
Initial reports indicated that Lawler was walking along State Route 94 within the traffic lanes. An Audi A4 approached him on the highway and, at approximately 10:55 p.m., struck Lawler. The force from the impact knocked the pedestrian down, several feet from the car. The driver of the Audi got out of the vehicle and ran away on foot, officers reported. Lawler was left in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Audi, who didn’t flee with the driver, called 911 to report the accident, officers said.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the Audi stopped in the roadway. Lawler was lying on the ground in serious condition. Paramedics arrived at the scene and began life-saving measures, but the pedestrian’s injuries were too severe. Sadly, Darryle Lawler was pronounced dead at the scene and officers called for the coroner.
Officers investigated the Audi that was left behind at the scene and discovered that the driver was a 48-year-old man from Lemon Grove. Officers are determined to find the suspect and bring him to justice for this hit-and-run death. Fleeing the scene of an accident is not only frowned upon, it’s illegal.
