Los Angeles, CA (January 8, 2024) 26-year-old Luis Espinoza lost his life when he was struck by a police car on Century Boulevard in Los Angeles. The accident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. on December 8th, 2023, according to authorities.

Espinoza, a Long Beach resident, was running on Century Boulevard, heading south, when he was struck. Police officers reported that he was about 75 feet from a designated crosswalk at the time of the accident. However, in a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore said, “I have very serious concerns regarding the officer’s driving leading up to the collision.”

It happened near the intersection of McKinley Avenue and Century Boulevard, officers said. After hitting Espinoza, the officer immediately stopped and got out of the squad car to help the pedestrian. Espinoza was rushed to a local hospital by paramedics, but sadly, he later passed away from his injuries.
