Ontario, CA (July 10, 2024) 34-year-old Luis Antonio Chavez was struck and killed by a vehicle on July 4th, 2024. The deadly accident occurred at the intersection of 4th Street and Etiwanda Avenue in Ontario, right around 3:41 a.m. The Anaheim resident was pronounced dead at the scene, officers reported.

It was what some would consider the middle of the night as 34-year-old Luis Antonio Chavez headed through Ontario on foot. He approached the intersection of 4th Street and Etiwanda around 3:40 a.m. A vehicle was also approaching that same intersection, according to reports. Tragically, at 3:41, the vehicle struck Chavez at the intersection. The force from the impact threw the victim several feet before he landed on the ground, motionless.

Emergency crews hurried to the scene, their flashing lights illuminating the black sky as they approached. They arrived to find Chavez on the ground, with fatal injuries. Unfortunately, there was nothing emergency crews could do to save him. 34-year-old Luis Antionio Chavez had been killed in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. The San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner was requested at the scene, according to reports.

Officers gathered all the evidence and information they could obtain at the scene in an attempt to understand what exactly happened at that Ontario intersection. They want to remind motorists to be away and vigilant when driving. They also want to remind to pedestrians to pay close attention to their surroundings and watch for vehicles, especially when its dark. Officers are determined to figure out who was at fault in this pedestrian fatality.
