      4-Year-Old Zaylah Pulliam Struck, Killed In Long Beach

      Long Beach, CA (March 28, 2024) A cloud of sadness covered the community of Long Beach over the weekend as news of a child’s death spread. In a tragic accident, 4-year-old Zaylah Pulliam was hit by a pickup truck on 55th Way on Friday, March 22nd, and suffered fatal injuries.

      It was evening, just before 7:00 p.m., to be exact, as a 2020 Ford F-150 pickup truck drove through the neighborhood on 55th Way in Long Beach. Initial reports indicated that the 25-year-old driver, a resident of Downey, was heading east. not far from Paramount Boulevard, when he suddenly hit Pulliam. The 4-year-old was said to be crossing the street at the time of the accident, near a designated crosswalk.

      The Long Beach Police Department hurried to the scene where they found Pulliam lying in the road with life-threatening injuries. Officers began life-saving measures on the child at the scene and continued to give these measures as Pulliam was rushed to a local hospital. Sadly. 4-year-old Zaylah Pulliam succumbed to her life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead.

      The 25-year-old driver of the pickup stayed at the scene and cooperated with police officers following this horrific accident. At this time, officers do not believe the driver had been speeding. They also do not think drugs or alcohol were factors in this Long Beach collision. Anyone with information regarding this tragic accident is encouraged to call the police department or to call the Crime Stoppers hotline.
