Lynwood, CA (October 7, 2024) Tragedy struck the community of Lynwood on Friday morning, October 4th, 2024. 42-year-old Eli Long was killed in a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Atlantic Avenue. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m.

Eli Long was a lifelong motorcycle rider. His father actually owned a motorcycle repair shop, according to reports. Long was riding through Lynwood and rode through the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Atlantic Avenue on a green light. As he went through the intersection, a silver Toyota Camry turned right in front of him. Long had no time to stop or avoid the vehicle, officers reported. Long’s motorcycle slammed into the Toyota, throwing Long to the ground. The Toyota then fled the scene, officers reported. Surveillance cameras captured the vehicle on the 710 Freeway moments later, erratically switching lanes.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene and found Eli Long on the ground. Officers reported that the rider was wearing a helmet and protective gear, but it wasn’t enough. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

Officers reported that the Toyota left debris behind as it fled the scene. Officers are using every piece of evidence they have to find the Toyota responsible for this accident and, in doing so, they hope to find the driver. Anyone who might have information about this deadly hit-and-run collision is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

All of us at Accident News Now extends our deepest condolences to the family of Eli Long, following this horrible hit-and-run collision.
