San Francisco, CA (October 30, 2023) A 1-year-old was killed on Saturday night in a possible DUI collision in the Sea Ranch, according to authorities. 19-year-old Colton Marrufo was arrested at the scene on suspicion of DUI. The California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred just before 10:30 p.m., north of Leeward Spur.
Colton Marrufo was heading north on Highway 1 in a Ford F-150 when he began to veer off the right side of the road. He continued to veer until he went up a rising dirt embankment on the side of the road, just north of Leeward Spur. The pickup that Marrufo was driving rolled over and landed back on the roadway below the embankment.

Marrufo had two young passengers riding with him at the time of the accident, a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old. The 4-year-old child received minor injuries in the collision, according to California Highway Patrol Officer David deRutte. Sadly, the 1-year-old was killed in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Officers at the scene discovered that Marrufo had been intoxicated during the collision. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment for injuries he received and then booked into the Sonoma County Jail once he was cleared by medical personnel at the hospital.
Marrufo is suspected of two counts of driving under the influence causing injury to another person, child endangerment, gross vehicular manslaughter during DUI and having an unsecured firearm in his vehicle. Officer David deRutte share all of this in a news release and said that all are felony charges. Marrufo is being held on $200,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Sonoma County Superior Court on Tuesday morning, October 31st.
