Bakersfield, CA (May 7, 2024) Bakersfield was the scene of a horrific and traumatizing collision that left two people fighting for their lives. The head-on crash occurred at the intersection of Zerker Road and Snow Road right around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, May 6th. Two people involved in this collision sustained life-threatening injuries, reports indicated.
The sun had just began to rise as motorists traveled to and from destinations in Bakersfield. At the intersection of Zerker Road and Snow Road, the quiet morning was about to turn chaotic. For reasons still unknown, two vehicles entered the intersection at the same time and collided, head-on. The sound of the two vehicles colliding echoed through the neighborhood as debris flew in all directions.
The Bakersfield Police Department arrived at the scene, along with the Kern County Fire Department and found the two vehicles with major damage in the middle of the intersection. They found one person trapped inside their vehicle with life-threatening injuries. Firefighters had to use specialized tools to cut the victim out of the wreckage. A second victim was also found with life-threatening injuries, according to reports. Paramedics quickly loaded the two victims into ambulances and rushed them to a local hospital. Both are listed in critical condition.
Officers took their time walking around the scene, looking for evidence. They are determined to figure out what exactly happened in this Bakersfield intersection and who was at fault. Tow trucks were called to remove both vehicles from the scene and crews worked as quickly as they could to clear the glass and debris from the intersection.
