Solvang, CA (September 24, 2024) A rollover crash on Highway 246 in Solvang left two people with injuries on Friday night, September 20th, 2024. Reports indicated that two vehicles were involved in the Santa Barbara County collision. It happened right around 6:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of East Highway 246, according to reports.
Initial reports indicated that a Lexus and a Kia were traveling along Highway 246 when, for reasons that remain unknown, the two vehicles collided. It happened near Skytt Mesa Drive on the 1000 block of the highway, at approximately 6:30 p.m. The impact caused one of the vehicles to rollover onto its roof, officers reported. The other vehicles also rolled, but came to a stop back on its wheels.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department arrived at the scene and found one of the vehicles on its roof and the other was off the road, completely smashed and damaged. Paramedics made their way to the vehicles and found two adults with significant injuries. They were both transported to Santa Ynez Valley Collage Hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Two children were also found in one of the vehicles, however, they remained unharmed, reports indicated. A man was also found with minor injuries but he refused medical care, according to reports.
The California Highway Patrol is heading this investigation. They gathered evidence at the scene and are working as quickly as they can to not only determine what caused this collision, but also, who was responsible. Tow trucks were requested to remove both damaged vehicles from the highway and crews worked to clean the debris and glass from the roadway.
