Hesperia, CA (April 24, 2024) A two-vehicle collision occurred near the entrance of Tom’s Famous Family Restaurant on Bear Valley Road in Hesperia. The crash took place just after 12:00 p.m., not far from Second Avenue, when a driver failed to stop at a red light, officers reported.

At approximately 12:13 p.m. on Monday, April 22nd, a Chevrolet van was heading west on Bear Valley Road and slowed down to turn into a shopping center. At the same time, a 2006 Toyota Camry Solora was headed east on Bear Valley Road and had a red light, but failed to stop, officers reported. The Toyota slammed into the side of the van in the intersection.

Police officers arrived at the scene with paramedics and found the van with serious damage. The doors were opened and coolers full of drinks and food had spilled onto the road. The front of the Toyota was completely smashed and debris was flown all over the roadway in every direction. Paramedics rushed to the vehicles to help anyone who might be hurt.

The driver of the van had serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital via ambulance. The driver of the Toyota, a female, sustained a head injury and was flown to a trauma center for treatment. Reports indicated that a Mercy Air helicopter landed on a helipad at Desert Valley to quickly take the woman to receive treatment.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene and crews worked to clear the scene of debris, as well as food that spilled out of the van.
