Oakville, CA (June 20, 2024) The census-designated area of Oakville was devastated to learn that a fatal accident had occurred. Residents awoke to the news of the traumatic collision that claimed one person’s life on Highway 29. According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place around 5:40 a.m. not too far from Robert Mondavi Winery.
It was early Thursday morning in Oakville when at least two vehicles collided on Highway 29 at approximately 5:40 a.m. CHP says a motorcyclist crossed a double-yellow line to pass other vehicles when he collided with an SUV. The impact killed him. The collision in Napa County left vehicles with major damage and threw debris all over the highway. The two wrecked automobiles were stopped in the middle of the highway, blocking the flow of traffic, according to reports. Officers with the California Highway Patrol stated that they received the alert about the accident at approximately 5:40 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol, as well as the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, arrived at the scene and found the damaged vehicles in the middle of the highway. Officers began helping other motorists get around the accident while paramedics checked the vehicles to give medical aid to anyone who had been injured. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist had been killed in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers called for a coroner and placed a tarp over the victim’s body.
Highway 29 was closed from Highway 128 to Oakville Cross Road for several hours as officers investigated the scene. Crews had to clean large amounts of debris from the highway once the investigation was complete.
