Torrance, CA (November 25, 2023) An 89-year-old woman was killed on Friday night, November 24th, in a 2-vehicle collision in Torrance. The accident occurred at the intersection of Torrance Boulevard and Anza Avenue just before 4:00 p.m., according to the Torrance Police Department.
A call came in about a “severe traffic collision,” and officers responded quickly. Upon arrival, officers found that a 2020 Dodge Charger, driven by a 24-year-old man, collided with a 2003 Toyota Echo, driven by the 89-year-old woman. Lt. Roland Harris with the Torrance Police Department said they removed the elderly woman from her vehicle and immediately began giving her life-saving measures before she was taken to a local hospital. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver at the Charger was not injured and cooperated with authorities following the collision. Harris said they do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be factors in this Torrance collision. The area had to be closed from Anza Avenue to Torrance Boulevard and Lenore Street for a few hours while crews cleaned the area and investigators searched for evidence. The woman’s Toyota had to be removed from the scene and officers tried to find any information that would help them understand what happened at this intersection in Torrance, and who was at fault for this fatal collision.
