Los Angeles, CA (February 2, 2024) –  Los Angeles mourns as news of a devastating accident on the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, which tragically claimed two lives, unfolds.

The fatal incident occurred at 2:26 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the 105 Freeway and Normandie Avenue, near the unincorporated area of Athens. Upon arrival at the scene, responders found the two victims, who were pronounced dead on-site. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified one of them as 20-year-old Jonathan Pena Langarcia.

Eyewitnesses recounted a harrowing scene, indicating that a white sedan was allegedly racing with the victims’ vehicle before the crash. Shockingly, the sedan reportedly fled the scene down the 105 Freeway without stopping, leaving behind a trail of uncertainty and devastation.

Witnesses noted in the aftermath of the collision that the victims’ vehicle was split in two upon impact with a tree, highlighting the severity of the crash and the force involved.
