Las Vegas, NV (June 25, 2024) A tragic accident occurred this morning on US-95 in Las Vegas. The accident claimed the life of a juvenile and left four others with injuries, reports indicated. The crash occurred just after midnight on Tuesday, June 25th, and involved several vehicles, the Nevada State Police stated.
It was just after midnight in Las Vegas as vehicles traveled along US-95 in the dark. Headlights illuminated the roadway as travelers headed south on the highway. Suddenly, multiple vehicles collided on the highway, not only causing injuries, but bringing traffic to a staggering halt. One of the vehicles involved in the collision rolled, officers reported. Debris and glass were all over the roadway as emergency vehicles rushed to the scene.
Paramedics loaded two juveniles and two adults into ambulances. They were then taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for their injuries. Then, sadly, they found a juvenile with fatal injuries. They knew nothing could be done and with heavy hearts, they pronounced the child dead at the scene and called for the coroner.
Update: The victim pronounced dead at the scene was 14-year old Tonya Fernandez. New reports state that a woman in a Dodge Charger was speeding at 108 mph on southbound US 95 when she struck a Toyota Yaris, causing it to rotate, enter another lane, and strike a Nissan pickup truck. It then went over a concrete wall and fell down an embankment. Tonya Fernandez was a passenger in the Toyota. All who went to the hospital were passengers in the Toyota and Nissan; the driver of the Dodge fled on foot but was later located and arrested.
