Rocklin, CA (August 12, 2024) Early morning on August 4th in Rocklin ended with a traumatic accident for one bicyclist. The rider sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a hit-and-run driver around 4:14 a.m. It took place on Industrial Avenue, not far from the Lon McNally Loop, according to reports.
It was still dark outside in Rocklin as a bicyclist took an early morning ride. As they headed along Industrial Avenue, a vehicle approached. For reasons that remain unknown, the vehicle struck the bicyclist at approximately 4:15 a.m. However, instead of stopping, the driver hit the gas and fled the scene, leaving the bicyclist with life-threatening injuries, officers reported.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the bicyclist on the ground with life-threatening injuries. The bicycle was several feet from the rider, dented and bent. First responders rushed the rider’s side, placing the victim on a stretcher and loading them into an ambulance. The bicyclist was rushed to a nearby hospital to receive emergency care. Officers stated that it was obvious the victim had been hit by a vehicle, but it appeared that the suspect had fled the scene.
Pieces of debris from the vehicle had been left behind at the scene, according to reports. Officers were able to use that, along with footage from a street camera, to find the vehicle responsible. Evidence led officers to a Fairfield apartment complex, reports indicated. They located the driver of the at-fault vehicle and placed the 28-year-old man under arrest.
