Indio, CA (December 21, 2023) Martin Gutierrez, 53, lost his life on Tuesday, December 19th, in a car crash in Indio. 36-year-old Alexander Frank Ortega was arrested on suspicion of murder following the accident. The fatal collision occurred on Indio Springs Parkway, just east of Golf Center Parkway, according to the Indio Police Department. Reports indicate that a white GMC pickup truck was driving west on Indio Springs Parkway when, for reasons unknown, it crossed into oncoming traffic. Merced, CA (December 20, 2023) Samuel Schesley, a Kent, Washington resident, was driving on Highway 99, just south of Sultana Drive, when he hit a pedestrian. The fatal collision occurred on Wednesday, December 13th, at approximately 9:18 p.m., according to authorities. 33-year-old Schesley pulled over and waited for police officers to arrive, following the accident. California Highway Patrol Officers Eric Zuniga said the pedestrian was struck in the southbound lanes of Highway 99. Escondido, CA (December 20, 2023) A MCAS Miramar-based Marine, identified as John Eugene Brand, 21, was arrested on Monday, December 18th, after leading officers on a high-speed chase and crashing his pickup truck. One of the passengers was killed in the collision, the Escondido Police Department said. Orland, CA (December 19, 2023) A pedestrian, identified as 39-year-old Gabriel Ramirez-Bustamante, a Walnut Creek resident, was struck and killed by a vehicle on Sunday, December 17th. The California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred on Interstate 5 in Orland, just south of County Road 7. Ramirez-Bustamante was walking north and a vehicle, driven by Phoenix native, Luis Franco, was also traveling north. His vehicle struck and hit Ramirez-Bustamante. Murrieta, CA (December 19, 2023) 37-year-old Teddy Ramirez, a Perris resident, was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 215 in Murrieta on Monday, December 18th. The California Highway Patrol said that the accident occurred around 9:00 p.m. near Baxter Road. Reports indicate that a 53-year-old man was driving a 2019 Toyota Rav4, traveling at about 65 miles per hour on Interstate 215. Ramirez was walking as the vehicle approached. Paradise, CA (December 19, 2023) 83-year-old Josine Clara Brown was killed by a DUI driver in Paradise, according to authorities. James Slack, 47, was arrested for DUI following the fatal accident. It took place on the 9000 block of Skyway, the Paradise Police Department reported. It happened on a late fall afternoon when Slack drifted into oncoming traffic on Skyward and crashed, head-on, with Brown’s car.
