Chinatown, Los Angeles, CA (February 14, 2024) Tragedy struck the Chinatown neighborhood in Los Angeles on the morning of Valentine’s Day, officers said. A pedestrian was struck by two different drivers, one of was arrested for DUI and the other fled the scene. It happened at the intersection of North Broadway and Ord Street. Sacramento, CA (February 14, 2024) The death of a child on Sunday, February 11th, left a community heartbroken. 8-year-old Alexander Cooper was with his 9-year-old sister, Jasmine Cooper, when they were both struck by a vehicle on Highway 50. Jasmine sustained serious injuries, but unfortunately, Alexander didn’t survive this tragic collision. The two children were riding in a black Toyota in the fast lane of Highway 50 in Sacramento when one of the tires blew, authorities said. Huntington Beach, CA (Februrary 13, 2024) Sadness swept across Huntington Beach last week as another life was taken by a drunk driver. 55-year-old Arturo Becerril Rodriguez lost his life on Edinger Avenue on February 9th, because of a drunk driver, officers said. The community is still reeling from the shock of this senseless collision. It was right around 9:30 p.m. as Rodriguez headed west on Edinger Avenue, not far from Edwards Street. Alameda, CA (February 13, 2024) An Alameda community was shaken on Sunday afternoon following a devastating accident. 31-year-old motorcyclist Albert Zhu was riding a Suzuki along Lincoln Avenue when he was killed in a collision. The Alameda Police Department reported that the fatal collision took place right around 1:00 p.m. on February 11th. Zhu was riding his motorcycle east when a gray 4-door sedan turned onto Lincoln Avenue from Ninth Street right in front of him. Bakersfield, CA (February 13, 2024) A community is mourning the loss of two mothers who were killed by a DUI driver on February 9th. Hortencia Garcia de Haro and Vanessa Lasarit were both killed when a DUI driver senselessly slammed into them on a Bakersfield Road. A third woman was also in the vehicle with them and sustained serious injuries in this devastating accident and remains in the hospital, fighting for her life. Gramercy Park, Los Angeles, CA (February 13, 2024) A quiet Los Angeles intersection turned into a tragic and chaotic scene on Monday night. Just before midnight, two vehicles collided at the intersection of West Century Boulevard and South Western Avenue in Gramercy Park, killing 28-year-old Alfred Joseph Marvray IV. Salinas, CA (February 13, 2024) An Uber driver was taking his passenger to their destination on Sunday night, when his life was tragically taken. Jorge Vasquez Topete a 53-year-old Salinas resident, was killed in a violent hit-and-run crash on February 11th, authorities said. Topete had picked up his passenger and was heading to the man’s destination, just as he had done so many times before, when another vehicle slammed into Topete’s car just before midnight. Victorville, CA (February 13, 2024) A cloud of sadness fell over Victorville last weekend as news of a pedestrian fatality spread through the town. 42-year-old Apple Valley resident, Michael Pont, was tragically killed while crossing a street on Friday night, officers said. Carmel Valley, CA (February 13, 2024) A 63-year-old man was riding his bicycle along Carmel Creek Road when he was hit by a vehicle, officers said. It was Monday afternoon, at approximately 1:30, when one mistake by a driver quickly turned into an emergency. Riverside, CA (February 12, 2024) It was the middle of the night as vehicles headed south on Interstate 215 in Riverside. For reasons unknown, a multi-vehicle collision occurred on that freeway at approximately 2:20 a.m., tragically claiming one person’s life. The California Highway Patrol reported that the fatal collision happened south of MLK Boulevard. Five sedans were heading down Interstate 215 when, for reasons unknown, they collided.
