Reno, NV (August 27, 2024) A collision between a RTC bus and a pickup truck occurred on Sunday evening, August 25th, in Reno. The Regional Transportation Commission Bus was carrying several people, four of whom were taken to a nearby hospital. The driver of the pickup truck was also injured, according to reports. It happened at E. Fourth St. and Lake St.

The RTC bus was driving through the intersection of E. Fourth Street and Lake Street in Reno on Sunday evening, on a green light. A pickup truck also entered the intersection, but officers believe the driver ran a red light. The pickup truck and the bus collided at the intersection, officers said.

The Reno Police Department and the Reno Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the two damaged vehicles. The accident had blocked the intersection and debris and glass were everywhere, reports indicated. Officers reported that most of the people on the bus had gotten off and were uninjured. However, 4 passengers were found with significant injuries. Paramedics transported them to a local hospital to receive treatment for unknown injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was also injured, officers reported, and was also taken to a hospital.

After the initial investigation, officers believe that speed may have been a factor in this collision. They do not think intoxication was a factor. They are continuing to work this case in an effort to better understand exactly what happened. A tow truck arrived at the scene to remove the damaged pickup truck and crews worked to clear the intersection of glass and debris.
