Placer County, CA (April 18, 2024) A community was saddened by news of a car accident that left one person dead on Monday, April 15th. The two-vehicle collision happened at the intersection of Doyle Ranch Drive and Walerga Road right around 6:45 p.m. The accident not only claimed one person’s life, but left another with serious injuries, officers said.

A Mazda was traveling north on Walerga Road and began to turn onto Doyle Ranch Drive. At the same time, a Mercedes was entering the intersection and collided with the Mazda in the intersection. The two vehicles threw debris all over the roadway as they collided and then blocked traffic.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and rushed to give medical aid to anyone in need. They found the passenger of the Mazda unresponsive. Paramedics began life-saving measures, but there as nothing they could do. Sadly, they pronounced the passenger dead at the scene. The driver of the Mazda was seriously injured in the collision. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital to receive treatment. The driver of the Mercedes complained about pain and was also taken to a hospital to get checked out, officers said.

Officers spoke to witnesses and gathered information at the scene and are determined to figure out what exactly happened in this Placer County intersection. Anyone who has information regarding this fatal collision is encouraged to reach out to the California Highway Patrol Auburn Division.
