Anaheim, CA (February 15, 2024) A group of teenagers stood on a sidewalk on February 13th in Anaheim. Suddenly, a car lost control and drove over the sidewalk, hitting two of the teenagers. The accident took place at the intersection of Wagner Avenue and State College Boulevard right at 2:30 p.m., authorities shared.
A group of high school students were standing together on the sidewalk near the Anaheim Tennis Center sign, backpacks in tow, as a car slammed into them. A video of the incident showed a blue BMW speeding down the road when it loses control. It went up onto the sidewalk and barreled into the group of teenagers, who immediately scattered to get out of the way. Two of the students had no time to move and were hit by the BMW that also took out a utility pole in the process, which fell onto the roadway below. The vehicle finally came to a stop on the sidewalk.
The Anaheim Police Department arrived at the scene quickly and found two students lying on the ground, injured. The utility pole was broken and lying in the roadway and the blue BMW was sitting in the grass, half on the sidewalk. Jon McClintock, public information officer for the Anaheim Police Department, reported that the BMW was heading west on Wagner Boulevard when, for reasons unknown, the driver lost control.

The two high school students who were hit by the BMW were transported to nearby hospitals where they received treatment for major injuries. McClintock said that both Anaheim High School teenagers were in stable condition.
Officers reported that speed was a factor in this accident and that they are still investigating to determine what happened to cause this crazy accident.
