ORANGE COUNTY, CA (NOVEMBER 25, 2023): 26-year-old Humberto Lopez Flores has been arrested under suspicion of DUI following the death of two pedestrians in Orange County on Thanksgiving day.
According to the Orange Police Department, the incident occurred on Thursday, November 23rd in the 700 block of North Shattuck Place, just west of the Newport (55) Freeway. Reports indicate a Ford F-250 driven by Flores was heading south on North Shattcuk when it veered into the path of a parked Chevy Silverado. Two men from Orange were standing outside of the Chevy were then struck by the Ford.

Authorities received reports of the accident at around 8:15 p.m., and arrived on scene shortly after. Upon the arrival of paramedics, the two men were unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.
Flores then fled the scene on foot, but was captured by police near Lincoln Street and Oakmont Avenue and arrested. Officers suspect Flores was under the influence of alcohol at the time of collision.
Flores was charged with two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol causing death, and for fleeing the scene of the traffic collision, according to authorities.
