Redding, CA (November 15, 2023) A Redding Police officer sustained injuries on Wednesday morning during a pursuit, when the suspect rammed their vehicle into a police cruiser. Two suspects were arrested following the pursuit and collision, according to the Redding Police Department.
It all started around 5:00 a.m. when SHASCOM dispatch received a call from someone who had just witnessed his truck being stolen. The Cheverolet Duramax truck had a flatbed trailer attached to it and was stolen from the man’s driveway, in the 2600 block of Wilson Avenue, as he watched.
Redding Police officers began searching for the vehicle and eventually found it. They tried to conduct an enforced stop, but the vehicle fled the moment the driver caught sight of the police cars. The stolen truck hit a parked car and then continued driving away, in a reckless manner, according to police officers.

During the second attempt, the driver intentionally rammed two of the police vehicles, injuring one of the officers in the process. He then drove through a fence where the vehicle stopped. The two suspects got out of the truck and fled on foot.
Officers had a little help in apprehending the suspects with their K9, Duke, who quickly caught the first suspect. He was identified as a male juvenile from Orland. The driver, however, was still on the run. He jumped into a nearby pond to try and evade capture. The driver, also a male juvenile from Orland, was apprehended.
The passenger was sent to a local hospital for treatment for injuries. The driver was booked into the Shasta County Juvenile Hall for Vehicle Theft, Reckless evading, Possession of Stolen Property and resisting arrest with violence. He is also facing 3 counts of assault with a deadly weapon against officers, a hit-and-run charge, a warrant for robbery out of Glenn County and finally, conspiracy to commit a crime.
